INTRODUCTIONS
INTRODUCTIONS

My name is Martha. I am a nine-year-old Old English Sheepdog who lives in South Wales. This year I moved house for the first time; I no longer live my grandparents and I miss them quite a lot. I have a heart murmur and a crumbling spine so I have to take lots of tablets, which make me feel young again.

I have a Mummy who is a bit silly, an Auntie Ysabel who helps me make this site, a Cousin Sweepie who's a Pug, and, an Uncle Ray who I hope to marry one day.

I spend my days looking out of the front window watching people walk by, playing with plastic bottles, and teaching Sweepie about life. I love going down the beach and long walks when the weather's cool enough. I hate being brushed and I think I have my own unique style.

I started this blog in December 2004 but had a break from it at the end of 2006. This was because my life had changed a lot after Madge, my Pug cousin, had babies and I helped her to raise them. I didn't think I'd want to blog again but now I want to share my new grown-up life, in my new home.

Walks and Barks
Saturday, January 22, 2005 @ 10:28 PM

Yesterday I hurt my paw again - not the back one but the front! I limped in to show Mummy and she told Auntie Ysabel that I was faking it for attention. I was very upset and so Auntie Ysabel lifted my paw and had a look at it ... after that it felt a lot better.

When I went for a walk I met a large group of people. Mummy was frightened of them so I went to walk beside her as we walked past them - just to keep her safe. I wasn't frightened at all, of course. I even went up to one of the women to say hello and she told me I wasn't allowed to jump for a hug and a kiss. I thought about doing it anyway but Mummy told me not to so I didn't.

This week Yoda has been in the house a lot more - and he keeps trying to play with me. I like playing with Cordi because she likes the same games I do: hide and seek, chewing bottles, making noise and eating things. But Yoda is bigger and he scratches me a lot. I don't understand the games he plays. He just rolls around on his back and hits me as I walk past.

Right now I want to go in the living room but because the bird is out I'm not allowed in there. Sometimes I like to pretend I'm going to eat the bird. I won't really eat her but sometimes I pretend. Mummy has gone to bed early and I know what that means - she is going away. Her and Auntie Ysabel are going down to Cardiff tomorrow for the night and I am very upset. I don't want them to go but they won't listen to me. So I might be naughty for Granddad and Grandma while they're away...

Winter Coat
Friday, January 07, 2005 @ 1:32 AM

I hate the winter. Usually I love it but this year Mummy has decided to grow my hair and so keeps brushing me. I hate being brushed because it hurts. And Mummy makes me stand up and I get bored so I keep trying to lie down - and then she shouts at me!

To cheer me up Mummy took me for a walk in the rain. I love walking in the rain. I wished Auntie Ysabel had come with us but she said it was too cold and wet to go walking. I didn't like it when Auntie Ysabel told me I smelt bad when I got home! My feet were very dirty though.

Auntie Ysabel has stayed up late tonight and it has worried me because when I hear Granddad's alarm go off (he has one set on his watch that goes off at midnight every night) I know it is nearly time for bed. But tonight when I got up and walked to the door Auntie Ysabel was still awake and not getting ready for bed at all. So I slept in the doorway for a while, protecting her from monsters, but I couldn't resist my sofa after an hour's worth of protecting so I went and fell asleep again.

I hope Mummy never brushes me again and that it stops raining so Auntie Ysabel will walk with us again.

new year rows
Saturday, January 01, 2005 @ 11:48 AM

Yesterday I fell into the Christmas tree. I didn't hurt myself but was very embarrassed.

I spent New Years on my own because Mummy, Auntie Ysabel, Granddad and Grandma went out, and Auntie Amber went to her friend's house. I was sleeping peacefully at 12am and then an hour later Mummy came home and frightened me. I was really scared! She smelt of smoke and alcohol and I didn't like it so I went to bed.

This morning Auntie Ysabel woke up early and so let me outside to run around. I forgot it was Auntie Ysabel and not Grandma and so I went up the drive for a walk, like I usually do when Grandma lets me out in the morning. I didn't come back when Auntie Ysabel called me... And when I did eventually go home Auntie Ysabel was very mad and shouted at me. She put me to sit in my bed and told me she'd tell Mummy what I'd done. I was very depressed. So when Mummy finally got up I ran to her and climbed into her lap so that she wouldn't believe what Auntie Ysabel told her... But she still believed her! She let me sit on her though and I gave Auntie Ysabel a kiss to say sorry.

Ooh Granddad and Grandma are home! I'm going to bark at them!
